Coast Guard seeks additional information for investigation into death of kayaker near Harbor Island, Texas 

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coast Guard is seeking additional information for the investigation into a collision that resulted in the death of one person May 27, 2019, near Harbor Island, Texas.

The Coast Guard is investigating the collision between a vessel with an outboard motor and a kayak that is believed to have occurred early on the morning of Memorial Day near the Harbor Island road launch in the Aransas Channel between Aransas Pass and Port Aransas. 

The Coast Guard is requesting anyone with information regarding this tragic incident to contact the Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard's investigation is in addition to any investigation being conducted by state and local agencies and its findings will be independent of those made by any other agency. 

In addition, Coast Guard investigators cannot confirm any findings already released to the public regarding any violations or other unsafe practices from either vessel involved in the collision.
