Coast Guard, FEMA, Cal OES to hold press briefing on emergency response in San Francisco
WHO: Adm. Karl Schultz, the Coast Guard commandant; Mr. Robert Fenton, the FEMA Region 9 administrator; Mr. Mark Ghilarducci, the California Office of Emergency Services director; representatives from multiple local agencies.
WHAT: Spokespersons are scheduled to hold a press briefing to discuss interagency emergency and disaster response in the San Francisco Bay Area.

SAN FRANCISCO — Top officials from the Coast Guard, FEMA and the California Office of Emergency Services are scheduled to hold a press briefing at the San Francisco Ferry Building Wednesday.
Adm. Karl Schultz, the Coast Guard commandant, Mr. Robert Fenton, the FEMA Region 9 administrator, and Mr. Mark Ghilarducci, the California Office of Emergency Services director are scheduled to be the spokespersons at the event, while representatives from other local agencies will be in attendance.
The speakers are scheduled to discuss the importance of waterways, ports and the maritime environment during emergencies such as earthquakes and terrorist attacks and how multiple agencies will work together to meet the region's economic and transportation needs. Schultz is scheduled to discuss the Maritime Commerce Strategic Outlook and how it will be used to keep the waterways and ports open after an incident.
Maj. Gen. David Baldwin, the Adjutant General of California, Rear Adm. Peter Gautier, the Coast Guard 11th District commander, Capt. Marie Byrd, the Coast Guard Sector San Francisco commander and representatives from multiple additional agencies including the Port of Oakland and the Port of San Francisco will also be available for interviews.
