Coast Guard rescues 3 boaters west of Clearwater Pass

CLEARWATER, Fla. The Coast Guard rescued three people Saturday after a boat took on water 6 miles west of Clearwater Pass.

At 10:27 a.m. Sector St. Petersburg watchstanders received a distress call via VHF FM marine band radio channel 16 from three people aboard a 22-foot boat, the Snow Plow, stating the boat was taking on water.

A Station Sand Key 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boat crew was launched, arrived on scene and used a dewatering pump to control the water. The boat crew escorted the Snow Plow to Belleair Causeway Boat Ramp. There were no reported injuries.
