Coast Guard reopens Lower Mississippi River
NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard has reopened the Lower Mississippi River at mile marker 3.5 with restrictions near New Orleans, Friday.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans has reopened the Lower Mississippi River at mile marker 3.5 to vessels with a draft of 30 feet or less, following the grounding of the 837-foot deep-draft vessel Anglo Alexandria.
Watchstanders at Sector New Orleans received a report at 8:32 a.m. Friday that the Anglo Alexandria ran aground. The vessel has since been moved out of the channel.
There are no current reports of pollution or injuries.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
