SAN DIEGO — Coast Guard Sector San Diego crewmembers are scheduled to host the Sector’s open house Sunday.

As a part of San Diego’s Fleet Week, the Coast Guard invites the public to stop by from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to learn about Coast Guard operations in San Diego.

“America’s Finest City is also America’s Finest Coast Guard City,” said Capt. Donald Montoro, Sector San Diego's deputy commander. “We are elated to open our doors and welcome the public once again. We hope people take this rare opportunity and close out Fleet Week San Diego with us.”

Visitors will be able to tour an MH-60T Jayhawk Helicopter, an 87-foot Marine Protector Class patrol cutter, a 45-foot Response Boat–Medium, as well as other assets and equipment used by the Coast Guard and partner agencies.

A search and rescue demonstration is scheduled at 2:30 p.m., pending asset availability due to operations.

Limited parking will be available on base. The use of taxis or ride sharing services is highly encouraged. A shuttle will also be available to take visitors to and from Broadway Pier at 15-minute intervals between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Crews will also be available for interviews with interested media members.
