MIAMI – The Coast Guard Office of Maritime Law Enforcement, Royal Bahamas Police Force and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force co-host the 6th Multilateral Maritime Interdiction and Prosecution Summit in Nassau, Bahamas Tuesday and Wednesday. 

More than 87 maritime counter drug professionals from operational and legal communities in attendance during the 6th MMIPS representing 15 countries across the Central and Eastern Caribbean.

The mission of the MMIPS is to foster in-depth discussions on how to deter, detect and disrupt transnational organized criminal networks, prosecute those who operate them, and improve citizen security and national stability of key regional partners. MMIPS discussions focus on regional awareness of the air/surface threats, multinational cooperation, and judicial/prosecutorial challenges.

The MMIPS also supports key elements of Feb. 9, 2017 Presidential Executive Order on enforcing federal law with respect to transnational criminal organizations and preventing international trafficking, the State Department’s Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI) and the Coast Guard’s Western Hemisphere Strategy.
