Coast Guard to present Open House in Chincoteague, VA
WHO: U.S. Coast Guard active duty and auxiliarist personnel along with Virginia Marine Resources Commission officers.
WHAT: Tour the U.S. Coast Guard base as well experience activities and demonstrations.
WHERE: United States Coast Guard Sector Field Office Eastern Shore, 3823 Main Street, Chincoteague Island, Virginia.
WHY: To present information on safety equipment, boater education, Coast Guard careers and Coast Guard missions.
WHEN: Tue. July 24, 2018, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
CHINCOTEAGUE, Va. — Personnel at U.S. Coast Guard Sector Field Office Eastern Shore will present an open house for the public.
Along with touring the base, visitors will be able to meet Coast Guard personnel serving at the base, view displays of safety equipment, careers in the Coast Guard, Aids-to-Navigation, a boating simulator and experience children's activities. There is also a helicopter demonstration scheduled for 1 p.m.
To locate the open house, turn east at the traffic light on Route 175 coming from Route 13. Cross the bridge onto Chincoteague Island. Take a right at the light (Main St.) and the Coast Guard Base is on the right approximately 1 mile from the turn. Identification will be required at the gate.
