1. This ACN announces immediate changes to REF (A) and (B), and is in alignment with the
Commandant's Guiding Principle of READY as denoted in REF (C). This change furthers our
commitment to providing workplace flexibility for our members and their families as we
support a mission ready total workforce.
2. REF (A), Assignments While Pregnant: will be amended so that post-partum Active Duty
members shall not be issued TDY orders for up to 12 months from the date of a birth event
unless the member elects such orders as set forth in Paragraph 4.
3. REF (B), Selected Reserve Assignments: will be amended so that post-partum Reserve
members shall not be involuntarily mobilized for up to 12 months from the date of a birth
event. A post-partum Reserve member may elect voluntary mobilization orders as
set forth in Paragraph 4.
4. A post-partum member may elect TDY or voluntary mobilization orders within the 12 months
following a birth event only if cleared by a Coast Guard medical officer and with approval
from the first O-6/GS-15 in the chain of command.
5. Policies and standards in REF (A) and (B) not specifically addressed in this ACN
remain unchanged. REFs (A) and (B) will be updated to reflect the mentioned changes and
will both be released within the next year.
