Coast Guard medevacs 66-year-old woman near Ponce Inlet

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 66-year-old woman Tuesday near Ponce Inlet.

Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville command center watchstanders received a call via VHF-FM marine band radio channel 16 at 11:56 a.m. from the operator of a 19-foot Boston Whaler stating a passenger suffered a back injury after their vessel was waked out.

A Coast Guard Station Ponce De Leon 45-foot Response Boat – Medium boatcrew launched to assist.

The RBM crew arrived on scene at 12:28 p.m., embarked the woman and transported her to Station Ponce De Leon where awaiting EMS transported her to Florida Hospital New Smyrna.
