UPDATE: Coast Guard, partner agencies searching for overdue boater near Jacksonville

 

Update: Coast Guard crews were able to locate Perez Saturday anchored in Sister's Creek. 

 

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Coast Guard and partner agencies are searching Saturday for an overdue boater in the Intercoastal Waterway near Jacksonville.

Missing is Jacksonville resident Pedro Perez. Perez was reported to have left St. Mary's Boat Services Marina in St. Marys, Georgia at 10 a.m. Friday and arrive at Dames Point Marina via the ICW to meet a friend. Perez was on a 32-foot Cal sailing vessel.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville received a call from St. Mary's Police Department at 1:50 a.m. Saturday requesting assistance. A Coast Guard Station Mayport 29-foot Response Boat–Small crew has searched local marinas and is currently searching the ICW.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and St. Marys Police Department are searching marinas in the departure and arrival locations.
