SUBJ:  FY2018 CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER (CDC) CHILD CARE SUBSIDY PROGRAM (CCSP)
1. Effective 1 July 2018, Coast Guard (CG) active duty (AD), CG reservists on
active duty orders and Public Health Service Officers who are on active orders
to the CG enrolled in a CG sponsored CDC are now eligible to apply to the CCSP
for subsidy assistance to offset their monthly out-of-pocket patron fees.
2. The CG CCSP provides a contribution towards the total cost of care. The family
portion of child care costs plus the amount of the CG CCSP benefit will equal the
CDC rate.
3. The intent of the CG CCSP is to help meet the needs of eligible families
where the spouse/partner is working and/or attending school. To qualify for
the CCSP, all adult family members must be employed at least 20-hours per week,
be a full-time student, or have a combination of work and school that meet the
20-hour threshold.
4. The child care subsidy is based on the member’s Total Family Income (TFI).
The definition of TFI can be found in the CG CCSP Member/Family Handbook located on
the CCSP website:
https://nfc.usda.gov/FSS/clientservices/Child_Care_Subsidy/subsidies/USCG/index.PHP.
