SUBJ:  TRAINING MANAGEMENT TOOL (TMT) TRACKING FOR CUTTER TRAINING
A. Mandatory Use of the Training Management Tool, COMDTINST 5270.2 (series)
B. Cutter Training and Qualification Manual, COMDTINST M3502.4 (series)
1. REF (A) requires all CG units to fully implement TMT as the unit-level information
system for recording and tracking training requirements. Due to underway internet
connectivity challenges, cutters are hereby authorized to track TMT entries for cutter
drills/exercises, individual cutter watch station certifications and individual cutter
watch station currencies on paper while the cutter is underway. Cutters are authorized
a 30-day grace period upon return from deployment to transfer entries tracked on paper
into TMT. This message is intended to formalize the grace period to provide greater
flexibility. Whenever connectivity at sea or in ports other than homeport allows it,
cutters should make a reasonable effort to keep TMT updated.
2. Individual units may determine their own format for tracking TMT entries on paper.
In order to provide a uniform approach to data tracking, COMDT (CG-751) has created a
cutter training tracker spreadsheet. Commands may tailor this spreadsheet to meet the
needs of their respective cutters. It can be found electronically on the COMDT (CG-751)
portal site under the Training tab.
3. The contents of this message will be incorporated into the next revision of REF (B),
which will be released within the next year.
4. COMDT (CG-751) POC: Mr. Dennis Thorseth at Dennis.C.Thorseth@uscg.mil.
5. Released by CAPT B.A. Cooper, Acting Assistant Commandant for Capability.
6. Internet release is authorized.
