Rescued were Elvis Archilla, 46, Yanire Archilla, 46, Infiniti Archilla, 26 and Nemuel Archilla, 24.
The Archilla family were on their 14-foot dinghy when it capsized.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Islamorada received a phone call at 1:40 p.m., from Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission stating there were multiple people in the water in Blackwater Sound near Key Largo.
A Coast Guard Station Islamorada 33-foot Special Purpose Craft—Law Enforcement boatcrew launched, arrived on scene at 2:15 p.m., and rescued the Archilla family from the water. The boatcrew took the family to Gilberts Marina with no reported injuries.
“We highly recommend you always wear your life jackets whenever you’re on the water and not leave them in storage,” said Petty Officer 3rd Class Christopher Vita, a station boarding officer. “We recommend you heed the weather warnings, like small craft advisories, to ensure you don’t endanger yourself with potential hazardous seas and weather.”
