Coast Guard transfers unresponsive man to Monroe County coroner in Key West
MIAMI — The Coast Guard transferred an unresponsive 67-year-old man to a local coroner Tuesday after reportedly falling from the upper deck of his boat and landing on his head approximately 20 miles south of Key West.
At approximately 11 p.m. Monday, Coast Guard Key West watchstanders received a report from a crewmember aboard a 42-foot pleasure craft reporting the incident. Watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Station Key West 45-foot Response Boat—Medium boatcrew, who arrived on scene at approximately 12:28 a.m. Tuesday.
The boatcrew conducted CPR, but ceased due to the length of time with no pulse. Watchstanders arranged for the local coroner to take custody of the body.
No other information is available at this time. The Coast Guard is investigating the incident.
