PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads and the Port of Virginia Maritime Incident Response Team are scheduled to host the 12th Annual Steven Todd Dooley Search and Rescue (SAR) Forum Monday-Friday in Hampton.
The SAR forum is an annual event intended to strengthen regional interagency partnerships and communication, as well as to improve the life-saving processes and skills required of SAR agencies. The participants include law enforcement agencies and fire departments within the Hampton Roads area.
Media members are invited to attend SAR training events Thursday and Friday at the Crowne Plaza Hampton Marina in Hampton. A Coast Guard helicopter demonstration is scheduled for Thursday and boats are scheduled to be available for media ride-along requests.
Coast Guard Capt. Richard Wester, commander, Sector Hampton Roads, will be available for interviews, along with Bill Burkett, director, Virginia Port Authority Maritime Incident Response Team.
