Update: Coast Guard suspends search for a man over board
NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard suspended the search for a person in the water approximately 55 nautical miles south east of Fort Morgan, Alabama, Monday.
Coast Guard Sector Mobile suspended the search at 9:45 a.m. after searching approximately 2,830 square nautical miles for approximately 50 hours.
Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a report at 6:52 a.m., Saturday, from the pleasure craft Mocean Granted, a 41-foot Hattaras, that 40-year-old Matthew Willis was overboard. The man was last seen at approximately 2 a.m., Saturday.
Involved in the search was:
- Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry air crews
- Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter air crews
- Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island Response Boat-Medium boatcrew
- Coast Guard Cutter Razorbill
- Coast Guard Cutter Stingray
