SAN JUAN - Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Travis Rogers, a member of the Hurricane Maria ESF-10 Puerto Rico response team, describes efforts to remove damaged and sunken vessels from the water and return them to the owner at no cost, or process them for disposal. Boat owners are urged to call the Vessel Owner Outreach Hotline at (786) 521-3900 to salvage their stricken vessels at no cost. (U.S. Coast Guard video by Petty Officer 2nd Class Lisa Ferdinando)

TRANSCRIPT: “We are currently located in Isleta Island, Isleta Marina, here today and we have 27 vessels targeted that have been assessed as sunken. And we’re here today to do vessel owner outreach and try to find out the owners of these vessels so we can meet with them or talk to them on the phone and they can see if they want the Coast Guard to salvage their vessel for them or if they want to keep their vessel once it’s salvaged or not keep their vessel once we salvage the vessel to give back to the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico [for disposal].”
