SAN DIEGO — The Coast Guard medevaced a 33-year-old man approximately 230 miles southwest of San Diego, Sunday.
At approximately 9:45 a.m., the crew of the cruise ship Oosterdam contacted Coast Guard Sector San Diego's Joint Harbor Operations Center watchstanders to report a crewmember was experiencing symptoms of appendicitis.
A Coast Guard Sector San Diego MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew was launched to medevac the man.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., the Jayhawk crew arrived on scene, hoisted the crewmember and took him to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.
His condition is unknown.
