SUBJ: MORALE, WELL-BEING, AND RECREATION (MWR) AWARDS
A. ALCGPSC 047, MORALE, WELL-BEING, AND RECREATION (MWR)
AWARDS AND SCHOLARSHIPS
1. The International Military Community Executives Association (IMCEA) has
announced its annual MWR award winners, as first solicited in Ref A.
2. Ms. Jeanning Aldrete, Guest House Manager, Base Kodiak MWR, is the Coast Guard
Irving Rubenstein Memorial Award winner for 2017. Ms. Aldrete is recognized for her
outstanding efforts at overseeing the 46-room lodging facility and remote RV camping
area and providing a customer experience second to none. This has proven important, as
Ms. Aldrete and her staff are the first contacts to families when they relocate to Kodiak,
Alaska.
3. Ms. Sandra Hardison, MWR Director, Base Portsmouth, VA is the IMCEA 2017 Roy
C. Olson Memorial Award winner. Ms. Hardison is recognized for providing leadership
and technical MWR direction to one of the Coast Guard’s largest and complex Districts.
She was also a member of the PSC-chartered MWR IPT that developed criteria for the
acceptance of payment cards within the MWR program.
4. CAPT Robert Whitehouse, former Commanding Officer of the Community Services
Command, was the 2017 IMCEA Leadership Award Winner. CAPT Whitehouse was
recognized for his visionary leadership in developing innovative solutions to protect the
Nonpay Compensation Coast Guard Exchange and MWR benefits within the Coast
Guard.
5. The IMCEA awards will be sent directly to the commands for local presentation.
6. Other Coast Guard MWR personnel who were nominated for these awards include:
a. Mr. Richard Carman, MWR Director Base Kodak, AK – Roy C. Olson Memorial
Award
b. Mr. Eugene LaRocca, MWR Director Base Alameda, CA, Irving Rubenstein
Memorial Award.
These members can also take pride in the accomplishments and contributions to the
readiness, retention, and resiliency of the Coast Guard Family.
