SUBJ: ANNUAL COAST GUARD PARTNERSHIP IN EDUCATION (CG PIE) PROGRAM REGISTRATION
1.  Coast Guard Partnership in Education programs are command-sponsored
volunteer activities that engage educators and other community members
in the creation of enhanced education opportunities and career awareness
for students, especially those in communities with large underserved
populations. These innovative outreach programs are vital to reaching the
Service’s future workforce.
2.  Each year, CG Partnership in Education Coordinators are asked to register
their respective units and partner schools on the CG Portal PIE Site at
https://cg.portal.uscg.mil/units/CG00.HQ/00H/2/CG-PIE/SitePages/Home.aspx.
All Coast Guard units, including those that have newly established
partnerships, should register and those that do not have a PIE program are
encouraged to establish one and register it.
3.  During the 2016-17 school year, 190 CG units participated in the PIE
programs as more than 8500 volunteers reached over 100,000 students and
volunteered nearly 90,000 hours at 284 schools. Members of the U.S. Coast
Guard proudly serve in communities worldwide and collaborate with local
schools to support education outreach activities that promote academic
achievement, civic responsibility and create awareness of CG missions and
people.
