MEDIA ADVISORY: USCIS to Naturalize 300 New Citizens at CGA on Constitution Day and Citizenship Day
NEW LONDON, Conn. — The media is invited to attend a naturalization ceremony at the Coast Guard Academy, Sunday.
In recognition of Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Field Office Director Nieves Cardinale will present 300 citizenship candidates to the Honorable Warren Eginton, Senior U.S. District Judge, U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut during a naturalization ceremony.
Eginton will preside over the ceremony and administer the Oath of Allegiance to America’s newest citizens.
Coast Guard Academy Superintendent, Rear Adm. James E. Rendòn will also speak at the ceremony.
The Coast Guard Academy honor guard will present the colors and musical selections will be performed by the Academy Glee club.
The 300 citizenship candidates originate from the following 60 countries: Afghanistan, Albania, Antigua-Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Burma, Canada, China, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Kenya, Kosovo, Macedonia, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands,, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, St. Lucia, Sudan, Syria, Taiwan, Trinidad and Tobago, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Venezuela, and Vietnam.
This ceremony is part of USCIS’ annual celebration of Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, and Constitution Week, being recognized this year from Sept. 17 – 23. USCIS will welcome more than 30,000 new citizens at more than 200 naturalization ceremonies during this week-long observance.
