Coast Guard medevacs man off research vessel near Galveston, Texas
HOUSTON — An Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin aircrew hoisted a 49-year-old man from a research/survey vessel Sunday morning approximately 40 miles southeast of Galveston.
At 4:15 a.m., medical personnel aboard the 340-foot Norwegian research/survey vessel, Oceanic Vega, contacted Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders to report that a crewmember was experiencing extreme lower back pain, labored breathing and in need of medical assistance.
An Air Station Houston aircrew arrived on scene at 6:50 a.m. and hoisted the man off the research/survey vessel.
At 7:08 a.m., the aircrew delivered the man to University of Texas Medical Medical Branch in Galveston where he was reported to be in stable condition.
