MSIB Vol XVII Issue 056 VTS Measure, SWP Entrance Lighted Sea Buoy to LMR MM 3 AHP, Floating Dock ERCOLINO IV Transit

A U.S. Coast Guard Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) Measure is being established in accordance with the Navigation Safety Regulations, Code of Federal Regulations Title 33, Subpart 161.11, for all waters of the Lower Mississippi River (LMR) from the Southwest Pass (SWP) Entrance Lighted Sea Buoy to Mile Marker 3 Above Head of Passes (AHP). This Measure is needed to protect persons and vessels from the potential safety hazards associated with the southbound transit of the oversized floating dock, ERCOLINO IV. This Measure is in effect with the following provisions:

 

SWP Entrance Lighted Sea Buoy to MM 3 AHP:

 

August 26, 2017: All vessels are restricted to one-way traffic between the SWP Entrance Lighted Sea Buoy to Mile Marker 3 AHP from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. local time.

 

Updates and/or changes to the published schedule will be broadcast via Safety Broadcast Notice to Mariners and by Vessel Traffic Service Lower Mississippi River.

 

The ERCOLINO IV will depart on August 25, 2017, at approximately 11:00 a.m. local time from the Avondale Shipyard at Mile Marker 108 AHP, and will transit to the SWP Sea Buoy. Upon approaching the tow between Mile Marker 108 and Mile Marker 3 AHP, all mariners should contact the lead tug, PACIFIC DRAGON on VHF-FM CH 67 for passing arrangements.
