SUBJ:  SOLICITATION FOR RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT TEST AND EVALUATION (RDTE) IDEA SUBMISSIONS
1. Attention Coast Guard Innovators!  Now is the time to submit your forward leaning,
innovative, research and development ideas to address Coast Guard (CG) gaps and
challenges. Whether you are at a field unit, a headquarters program office, or are
an RDT&E stakeholder; your input is critical to ensure we are addressing our service's
most pressing needs.
2. RDT&E prepares the Coast Guard for future threats, and positions our service to
address emergent challenges; providing solutions for mission excellence and risk
reduction.
3. This year we will collect idea submissions through CG_Ideas@Work, the Innovation
Program's crowdsourcing platform. You will also have the option of submitting a short
video, up to one minute long, to accompany your idea. Ideas can be submitted using the
following link: https://cg-ideasatwork.ideascale.com/a/ideas/top/campaigns/21252 . If
you do not yet have a CG_Ideas@Work account, register for one with your .mil email
address by clicking “register” under the “Log in” button on the site. Once you have
signed in, select “Submit an Idea” in the upper right hand corner. If you are unable
to access the idea submission form, send an email to innovation@uscg.mil stating your
idea, the title, problem statement, operational impact and point of contact
information.
4. The RDT&E Program welcomes multiple submissions from units and individuals. Each
idea should be addressed in a separate submission and will only be accepted from
CG_Ideas@Work accounts with a .mil address. All submissions must be unclassified.
5. We will be accepting ideas for the FY19/20 Project Portfolio until 4 October 2017.
Our annual Idea Submission Review (ISR) is scheduled for 8-9 November 2017, where
stakeholders will convene to review, discuss, and vote on submitted ideas. ISR rankings
play a vital role in the process by which ideas are evaluated for inclusion in the
annual R&D portfolio.
6. The approved FY18 Project Portfolio can be found by scrolling to the bottom of the
RDT&E Program's webpage: www.dcms.uscg.mil/acquisition/rdte
