Waterway Status - Safety Zone MM 215-217 Lower Mississippi River
The U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port New Orleans, under the authority of the Ports and Waterways Safety Act, will establish a safety zone on the Lower Mississippi River, Above Head of Passes, from MM 215.0 to MM 217.0, extending the entire width of the river in the vicinity of the L’Auberge Casino, Baton Rouge, LA. This safety zone is needed to protect persons and vessels from the potential safety hazards associated with a fireworks display for the L’Auberge Casino 4th of July Celebration. This safety zone is effective from 8:45 p.m. until 09:45 p.m. on July 2, 2017.
All vessels are prohibited from entering this safety zone unless they have been granted permission by the Captain of the Port New Orleans or designated representative. Only vessels participating in the fireworks display and pre-designated vessels are permitted within the safety zone after 8:45 p.m. local. All vessels requesting permission to enter or transit through this safety zone are required to contact the Coast Guard.
A Coast Guard and/or local law enforcement vessel will be on scene for the duration of the event and can be contacted on VHF-FM Channel 16 and 67 or via the Officer of the Day at the number below.
