Coast Guard suspends search for man near the San Luis Pass, Texas
HOUSTON — The Coast Guard has suspended the search Saturday at 9:30 for a man who went missing near the San Luis Pass Bridge Friday morning.
Missing is 29-year-old Jacob Szydlowski. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and tan shorts on the Galveston side of San Luis Pass.
Searches were conducted by an Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew, Station Freeport boat crew and Coast Guard Cutter Pompano crew. Gulf Coast Rescue , Equisearch and Galveston Island Beach Patrol also assisted with search efforts.
Search efforts covered 230 square miles.
At 8:12 a.m., a wade fisherman contacted Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders to report that he and Szydlowski had been pulled under by strong currents while wade fishing and he did not see Szydlowski resurface.
