Coast Guard conducts non-maritime medevac of 72-year-old man
SAN PEDRO, Calif. -- The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 72-year-old man from Catalina Airport to Long Beach Airport, Tuesday.
Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach watchstanders received notification at 2 a.m., from Los Angeles County Medical Alert Center reporting that an elderly man had fallen on his stairs in his home and was experiencing severe head and internal injuries.
Watchstanders immediately launched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Forward Operating Base Point Mugu to conduct an emergency medical evacuation.
The helicopter crew safely transported the man to Long Beach Airport where emergency medical services were waiting. The man was taken to Ronald Reagan University of California Los Angeles Medical Center.
The man was reported to be in good condition.
