Coast Guard to hold 12th Annual Channel Islands Harbor Safe Boating Expo
LOS ANGELES -- Coast Guard Station Channel Islands Harbor will host the 12th Annual Channel Islands Harbor Safe Boating Expo.
Who: Members of Coast Guard Station Channel Islands Harbor, Coast Guard Forward Operating Base Point Mugu, Coast Guard Cutter Blackfin, Channel Islands Harbor Patrol, Oxnard Police Department, Oxnard Fire Department, Ventura County Fire Department, California State Parks and more.
What: The event is free to the public (all ages welcome) and is a participant in National Safe Boating Week. It will include rescue demonstrations from Coast Guard and Ventura Fire Department aircrews inside Channel Islands Harbor. In addition, tours and exhibits of numerous agency rescue boats and equipment, as well as interactive safety demonstrations will also be available free of charge. Lifejacket and flare exchanges are available to those interested in trading their worn or expired equipment for new ones. Participants can learn about the new California Boater Card requirements from the California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways booth.
