MEDIA ADVISORY: Alameda-based Coast Guard crew to return home after living marine resources protection mission 

The Waesche, the U.S. Coast Guard's second National Security Cutter, undergoes acceptance trials from Sept. 28 to Oct. 1, 2009, in waters off the Gulf Coast.

ALAMEDA, Calif. — The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf is scheduled to return to homeport in Alameda, Tuesday afternoon aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Waesche after a 63-day deployment protecting living marine resources among fishing fleets in the Bering Sea.
 

The 126-person Bertholf crew conducted 26 boardings while deployed aboard the Waesche, also homeported in Alameda, which was the first demonstration of a multi-crewed National Security Cutter.

Who: The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Waesche, a 418-foot National Security Cutter homeported in Alameda. 

What: Return to homeport following a 63-day fisheries deployment to the Bering Sea
