Media Availability: Coast Guard Station Rio Vista to hold sexual assault awareness and prevention walk
RIO VISTA, Calif. — Coast Guard Station Rio Vista crew members are scheduled to hold their fourth annual Paint Rio Vista Teal event Saturday at 11 a.m., with a walk from Rio Vista City Hall to Lira's Supermarket.
The walk kicks off Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention month, which has been recognized nationally in April since 2001.
Crew members are scheduled to wear their dress uniforms during the walk to show solidarity and support of the Coast Guard's commitment to preventing sexual assault.
After the walk, the Station Rio Vista command will provide a community lunch in the parking lot at Lira's supermarket, where Coast Guard members will be available for interviews.
