U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announce a border crossing closure to the following location:
The above change will go into effect on June 1, 2026.
The ports of Champlain, Fort Covington and Mooers will remain operational 24/7 for appropriate commercial and passenger traffic. The port of Chateaugay, which operates from 6 a.m.- 6 p.m., is an alternative option for crossing.
CBP operates the nearby border crossings that will remain open 24/7 for appropriate commercial and passenger traffic. See below for times of operation and approximate distances away from Trout River.
Please note, commercial traffic is only allowed at the Champlain and Chateaugay Ports of Entry.
- Champlain Port of Entry – east of Trout River (approximately 50 miles)
- Fort Covington Port of Entry – west of Trout River (approximately 14 miles)
- Mooers Port of Entry – east of Trout River (approximately 39 miles)
The following ports of entry are alternative options for crossing but are not 24/7.
- Chateaugay Port of Entry – east of Trout River (about 14 miles) hours: 6 a.m.- 6 p.m.
- Churubusco Port of Entry – east of Trout River (about 23 miles) hours: 8 a.m.- 4 p. m.
