CSMS # 60399698 - El Paso Field Office: Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Commencement of Enhanced Inspections

This notification is to inform CBP that on Saturday, April 27, 2024, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) commenced Enhanced Safety Inspections on all commercial operating vehicles (COV) exiting the Ysleta Port of Entry, Commercial Cargo Facility, El Paso, Texas. As of today, Tuesday, April 30, 2024, DPS has expanded their safety inspections to the El Paso Port of Entry – Bridge of the Americas (BOTA) Commercial Cargo Facility, El Paso, Texas. This operation may continue to expand to other El Paso Field Office (EPFO) cargo facilities and will affect wait times and the flow of COV making entry into the U.S. The duration of these enhanced inspections by DPS is unknown.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is committed to transparency and will continuously assess the situation. Updates regarding additional contingency plans will be provided as they become available.
