CSMS # 60341431 - UPDATE: Document Image System (DIS) Email Submission Enhancement Coming June 11, 2024
This message updates and adds information to CSMS #59950256.
On June 11, 2024, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will deploy an enhancement that will modify the CBP review process for documents submitted to the Document Image System (DIS).
Trade users will see the following changes:
-
For document submissions via email: CBP will have the ability to respond to filers when document-reviews are done in DIS. Currently, CBP does not have the capability to notify trade in all scenarios when document-reviews are done for docs that are sent by email.
-
For document submissions via Automated Broker Interface (ABI): CBP will have the ability to respond to filers through DIS regardless of review status. Currently, CBP does not have the capability to respond to DIS submissions sent by ABI when the review status is “accepted.” Only transactions rejected by CBP after review were able to be sent back to the filer.
-
For all document submissions: Three review status options will be available to CBP (“accepted,” “rejected,” and “under review”). With this change, CBP will have the ability to send review statuses of “accepted,” “under review,” and “rejected” regardless of how they were sent to CBP.
With these changes, CBP will be able to respond to all DIS submissions regardless of how they were sent to CBP and regardless of review status. CBP may also send comments to accompany the review status that is returned to the filer.
NOTE: Even though the capability will be available, a review status will not be sent for all documents reviewed by CBP.
The Document Image System (DIS) implementation guide (IG) was updated on March 25, 2024, and can be found in the “DRAFT CHAPTERS: FUTURE CAPABILITIES” section as ”DIS-XML Implementation Guide” located here: https://www.cbp.gov/trade/ace/catair. Please see the change log for specific details.
These changes will be available in production on June 11, 2024. Filers can reach out to their CBP Client Representative for questions related to Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transactions and testing support.
