Edits have been implemented to ensure that the Manifest Number (previously known as the Trip Number) must be included when transmitting amendment/deletion messages for bills linked to a Truck E-Manifest. “SYSTEM” should only be transmitted for amendment/deletion messages for bills not linked to an E-Manifest.

M1005 182 Vessel Name O 1 AN 2/28 Name of ship as documented in “Lloyd’s Register of Ships” Contains the identification SYSTEM, if the trip number is not known.
This field is required for conveyance arrival (M1501=4), Delete Consist (M1501 = S) and conveyance Export (M1501=8); not validated for all other message codes. - CBP accepts up to 23 alpha/numeric characters in this element.

WHEN reporting a Complete Manifest, submit the carrier SCAC code + a number to identify the trip. WHEN reporting a Preliminary Manifest: IF trip number is known, THEN submit the carrier SCAC code + a number to identify the trip; OTHERWISE, insert the word ‘SYSTEM’
WHEN reporting a Manifest Confirmation, submit the carrier SCAC code + a number to identify the trip.
NOTE: The Trip Number in conjunction with the Estimated date of Arrival at first port in the US (DTM Segment, position 0030, C507/2380) must be unique for a period of one year.
