Cargo Systems Messaging Service
CSMS #42906418 - Information on Retirement of the Legacy Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) Archive
On September 1, 2020, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will complete the full decommission of the legacy Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) application by retiring the associated legacy webpage and messages. In preparation, CBP has created a downloadable archive of all CSMS messages and attachments that were issued via the legacy CSMS system from January 1992 to June 2019. This downloadable archive is available at the following link:
Legacy CSMS Archive Files
The legacy CSMS archive files will be available for download until September 1, 2020. If access to these files is needed after that time, users should contact their CBP Client Representative. Users should continue to use the New CSMS Page, where users can find a real-time feed containing the last 100 messages and the New CSMS Archive, which includes messages from 2011 to present.
CBP upgraded the legacy CSMS system to a new technology platform in July 2019. The transition provided a more dependable messaging service for the trade community. CBP has maintained the legacy archive for as long as possible, but can no longer continue to do so. This step marks the final step in the transition.
