CSMS #42216969 - Drawback Processing Notification
The Drawback Offices will continue to operate and process claims during the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic. CBP will continue to monitor the situation on a day to day basis and make policy adjustments as necessary. Over the past 13 months, CBP has made tremendous strides in processing the increased workload as well as the limited modifications, privilege applications as a result of TFTEA, and claims under 19 CFR 191. Open lines of communication have been key in facilitating processing, and will continue to be necessary under current conditions. The following points highlight tips to help assist in our effort to process claims as efficiently as possible:
- CBP suggests that any updates/changes to one’s application or program be reported at the time of discovery. These efforts can potentially alleviate additional correspondence, which further delays processing.
- The processing of certain ACS claims, privileges, and ruling applications may be delayed because of the expansion of telework in response to COVID-19. In such cases, filers may elect to exchange paper-based privilege and general ruling applications for an electronic format (.pdf, Word documents, etc.) to the office email box where the paper application is on file.
Additional questions regarding this message should be directed to OTDRAWBACK@CBP.DHS.GOV.
Questions regarding applications or claims already on file should be directed to the applicable Field Office.
