Trade Policy Updates

Dear partner international trade partner,

Please join U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on Friday, March 15, 2019 2:00-3:00 p.m. EST, for a webinar update on Importer Security Filing -5 (ISF-5) Enforcement. ISF-5 Enforcement goes into effect on Friday, March 15, 2019 per CSMS# 19-000063. This webinar will cover the Final Rule that was effective on May 14, 2018, and expanded the definition of Importer Security Filing (ISF) for certain types of shipments including Freight Remaining On Board (FROB) as well as Transportation and Exportation (T&E) and Immediate Exportation (IE) in-bond movements. These changes were necessary to ensure that the ISF Importer included parties that have a commercial interest in the cargo and have best access to the required data. CBP encourages all ocean carriers, NVOCCs, customs brokers, and importers to attend this webinar to understand their obligations as the ISF Importer and comply with these requirements before full enforcement begins. Those parties who do not comply expose themselves to cargo holds and liquidated damages. There will be ample time for Q&A during the webinar.
