For users of the ANSI X.12 message set 353 (Customs Events Advisory Details), it has come to CBP’s attention that some trade participants have been submitting incorrectly-formatted dates into Segment M15's data element M1503 (Date of Event). This is a Mandatory field of CCYYMMDD format, as specified in the Implementation Guide.
This field is of significance to proper downstream processing, such as in-bond processing. As a result, effective April 2018, an invalid date value in the M1503 Date field will cause a 353 transmission to fail with a 997 Functional Acknowledgement rejection error.
