This #WearBlueDay, Play a Role in Combating Human Trafficking
Human trafficking is a crime that affects millions around the world, including right here in the United States. For this reason, the White House has proclaimed January as National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Throughout January, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Center for Countering Human Trafficking’s (CCHT) Blue Campaign and its partners amplify the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to ending this terrible crime by protecting and empowering lived experience experts and prosecuting traffickers.
You can play a role by raising awareness of human trafficking and supporting victims and survivors. How? By getting involved in #WearBlueDay on Thursday, January 11, 2024. Participation is simple:
- Wear blue.
- Take a selfie, group photo, or video.
- Post it with the hashtag #WearBlueDay.

From Awareness to Action: Recognizing and Reporting Human Trafficking
During Human Trafficking Prevention Month, Blue Campaign invites you to attend a free webinar to learn how to best recognize and report potential cases of human trafficking. Attendees will hear from Blue Campaign leaders as they discuss what human trafficking is, indicators of potential human trafficking, common misconceptions, how traffickers operate, and available resources. Continued Presence Webinar for Law Enforcement
On January 11, 2024, CCHT is offering a live webinar on the Continued Presence (CP) program for the law enforcement community. The webinar, which represents one installment of a quarterly series, will focus on the following:
- Why and how requesting CP strengthens a human trafficking investigation.
- How to prepare and submit a CP Request.
- Recent improvements to the CP program.

Continued Presence is a temporary immigration designation provided to individuals identified by law enforcement as trafficking victims who may be potential witnesses. CP allows trafficking victims to lawfully remain in the U.S. temporarily and work during the investigation into the human trafficking-related crimes committed against them and during civil action under 18 U.S.C. § 1595 by the victims against their traffickers.
