USDA Rural Development Celebrates Federal Loan Awards for Public Water Supply Districts
Over $1.5 million to help fix aging infrastructure in Gasconade and Jackson Counties
COLUMBIA, Mo., May 14, 2024 – Today, USDA Rural Development Missouri State Director Kyle Wilkens announced loan awards for two Public Water Supply Districts to help modernize water delivery systems. This announcement comes during nationwide recognition of “Infrastructure Week.”
“Most folks don’t get too excited when water delivery systems are upgraded or when larger pipes are put in place to ensure adequate supply” said State Director Kyle Wilkens – “but the minute they’re offline or unavailable, it becomes a hot topic really quick” he conveyed. “Our goal with these proactive projects is to ensure the avoidable remains just that” Wilkens concluded.
USDA Rural Development investments used to assist two Public Water Supply Districts (PWSD) for the following projects:
- PWSD 1 - Gasconade County – loan of $985,000 to to provide customers with a more reliable water delivery system.
- PWSD 17 - Jackson County – loan of $587,000 to increase fire flow safety and growing demand.
