Section 504 Home Repair Loans and Grants in Presidentially Declared Disaster Areas Pilot Program

A notice regarding the Single Family Housing Section 504 Home Repair Loans and Grants in Presidentially Declared Disaster Areas Pilot Program was published in the Federal Register on Tuesday, July 18, 2023.  The pilot includes the following program waivers:

• Remove the age requirement to be eligible to apply for grants.  Pilot applicants must be 18 years of age or older. 
• Allow for the refinancing of eligible debt incurred prior to application.  
• Coordinate efforts with Federal Emergency Management Agency's Individual Assistance Program by removing:
• The restriction to cover the costs associated with moving a manufactured home to the site.
• The `own and occupy the property' requirement when the applicant owns the site and will occupy the replacement manufactured home once installed or a permanent housing solution on the applicant's site is anticipated within 12 months from the date of closing.

The pilot states are:  Alabama, Alaska, America Soma, California, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
