USDA is Seeking Applications for Grants to Support Housing Repairs in Rural Communities
The deadline to submit pre-applications is July 7, 2021 (paper) and July 19, 2021 (electronic)
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development is accepting applications for grants support housing repairs for low-income rural residents.
Under the Housing Preservation Grant Program, USDA does not provide funding directly to individual homeowners. Instead, the grant recipient helps to repair housing for low- and very-low-income rural residents. Rental property owners may also receive assistance with rehabilitating housing complexes if they agree to make the repaired units available to low-income tenants.
The grants may be used to resolve health or safety issues, improve accessibility, or to make energy efficiency improvements to lower utility costs.
State and local government entities; nonprofits and faith-based organizations, and federally-recognized tribes are eligible to apply. The grants are awarded on a competitive basis.
Paper pre-applications must be received by USDA no later than 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time on July 7, 2021. Electronic pre-applications are due by 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time on July 19, 2021. In Oregon, applications should be submitted to the state office:
