USDA Offers Financing for Rural Emergency Response Facilities and Equipment
$14.4 million is available in Nevada through August 20, 2021
Small, rural emergency response departments are essential for the safety and wellbeing of rural residents, but maintaining adequate facilities and equipment for these departments can come with a high price tag. USDA Rural Development can help!
We offer financing through the Community Facilities Program for the purchase of emergency vehicles and equipment, as well as for the construction or upgrade of fire departments, police stations, 911 dispatch centers, and more.
Approximately $14.4 million in loans, loan guarantees, and grants is available in Nevada through August 20, 2021.
This financing is limited to rural towns with a population of 20,000 or less. Very small communities with a population of 5,000 or less that have limited financial resources may receive priority for funding.
For example, Mineral County Fire & EMS needed to replace one of its ambulances that provides emergency medical services across central Nevada.
With a $50,000 grant provided by USDA through its Community Facilities Program, the department was able to refurbish a used ambulance and mount it on a new chassis, creating a like-new ambulance to serve county residents.
This project ensures the 4,514 people who live and work in this rural area of the state will continue to have access to emergency medical services for years to come.
