NIFA is Recruiting for Institute Deputy Directors
The United States Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) is seeking to fill Deputy Director positions in its Science Institutes. These are Senior Executive Service positions, and the salary ranges from $175,501 to $186,500 per year, commensurate with experience.
Four Institute Deputy Director positions may be filled from this vacancy announcement. The official titles are:
- Deputy Director, Institute of Bioenergy, Climate, and Environment
- Deputy Director, Institute of Food Production and Sustainability
- Deputy Director, Institute of Food Safety and Nutrition
- Deputy Director, Institute of Youth, Family, and Community
As the Deputy Director, the incumbent is responsible for leading the Institute by providing scientific and managerial leadership and direction in formulating and implementing policies and programs in the Institute. These programs support research, education, and extension programs for transforming the U.S. agricultural production for meeting the demands in the future. The incumbent serves as a principal scientific and management advisor to NIFA’s Director and Associate Directors in administering, evaluating, planning, directing, and coordinating activities related to the mission and function of NIFA; in execution of policies and practices of grants management; in the allocation of resources to carry out these policies and practices.
