The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) produces this weekly report using data and products from the National Water and Climate Center and other agencies. The report focuses on seasonal snowpack, precipitation, temperature, and drought conditions in the U.S.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Climate Prediction Center (CPC) released the winter 2025-2026 weather outlook. According to the outlook, the equatorial Pacific has recently transitioned to a cool phase, also known as La Niña. This phase is typically associated with cooler and wetter conditions in the Northern U.S., and warmer and drier conditions along the southern portion of the country. Individual storm systems may bring conditions that differ from the forecasted seasonal trends. The outlook denotes a greater probability for these regions of the U.S. to follow typical La Niña patterns, overall, during the next few months.
