   The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) produces this weekly report using data and products from the National Water and Climate Center and other agencies. The report focuses on seasonal snowpack, precipitation, temperature, and drought conditions in the U.S.
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, 30.11 percent of the U.S. and Puerto Rico and 35.90 percent of the lower 48 states are in drought as of September 9. 110.3 million acres of major cropland in the U.S. is experiencing drought conditions and 87.6 million residents are affected by the drought. Additionally, 40 states are experiencing Moderate Drought (D1) or worse drought conditions this week.
