WANT A MORE RESILIENT AND ENERGY-EFFICIENT FARM?

Tractor

Greenhouses, maple syrup operations, forestland, cropland, livestock farms, pastureland, vegetable operations and urban farms can benefit from  Climate Smart Agriculture and Forestry Mitigation Activities and supporting conservation practices.

Apply by April 1, 2024 to the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) or the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) to be considered in NRCS Connecticut’s 2024 Round 3 funding, made possible through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) - the largest climate and conservation investment in history.

Climate Smart Agriculture and Forestry Practices can include:

Forestry

Ecological Forest Management and Agroforestry practices, such as tree and shrub planting, forest stand improvement, riparian buffers, and wildlife plantings.

Energy

Energy Conservation, such as efficient lighting and insulation, reverse osmosis units and sap pre-heaters, building heating and cooling, ventilation fans, and combustion system improvements (replacing high emitting diesel engine equipment with electric equipment: boilers heaters, tractors, backhoes, loaders & forklifts).

Agroforestry

Pasture Management and Agroforestry, such as prescribed grazing, brush management, silvopasture, pasture reseeding, and riparian buffers.

Soil Health

Soil Health Practices such as cover crop, no-till, minimum tillage, crop rotation, mulching and field borders.
