Acreage Reporting Deadline Quickly Approaching

The Chickasaw County FSA Office would like to remind producers that the deadline to complete your 2023 Crop Certification is July 15, 2023.

When visiting the office to complete your 2023 Crop Certification it is important that producers have the following details to share with FSA:

  • What crop was planted on each field/farm.
  • The date that the crop was planted. If planted over several days, please have an average date.
  • Your intended use of that crop/pasture Ex: Grain, Forage, Left Stand, Graze
  • Your share of the crop/pasture Ex: 100%, 50%, 33%
  • If a field was split, approximate crop area and acres so that maps are as accurate as possible.

Please contact the Chickasaw County FSA Office at 641-394-5929 to schedule an appointment to complete crop certification in the office. Scheduling an appointment allows for FSA staff to prepare maps for your visit and reduce wait times.

Nominations Open for the 2023 County Committee Election

FSA is now accepting nominations for county committee members.  The 2023 Chickasaw County FSA election will occur in Local Administrative Area 3 (LAA3) which includes the townships of Jacksonville, Utica, Stapleton, and Fredericksburg.

Completed nomination forms must be postmarked or received in the FSA office by Aug 1, 2023.

Progression Lending from FSA

Farm Service Agency (FSA) farm loans are considered progression lending. Unlike loans from a commercial lender, FSA loans are intended to be temporary in nature. Our goal is to help you graduate to commercial credit, and our farm loan staff is available to help borrowers through training and credit counseling.

The FSA team will help borrowers identify their goals to ensure financial success. FSA staff will advise borrowers on developing strategies and a plan to meet your goals and graduate to commercial credit. FSA borrowers are responsible for the success of their farming operation, but FSA staff will help in an advisory role, providing the tools necessary to help you achieve your operational goals and manage your finances.

For more information on FSA farm loan programs, contact the Chickasaw County USDA Service Center at 641-229-3106 or visit fsa.usda.gov
