USDA recently announced Phase 2 of the Emergency Relief Program (ERP) as well as the Pandemic Assistance Revenue Program (PARP). The deadline to apply is June 2, 2023. |
The applicable disaster years for ERP 2 is 2020 and/or 2021 and for PARP is 2020. Both programs compare a producer’s gross revenue from benchmark years 2018 or 2019 with the gross revenue from the disaster years. If the gross revenue in the disaster year is below the benchmark year, the producer could be eligible for benefits. The gross revenue is derived from specific line items off the producers Schedule F form for the applicable years as described in the PARP Fact Sheet, ERP2 Fact Sheet or ERP2 / PARP Comparison Fact Sheet.
Click PARP and ERP2 for more information.

General CRP: USDA recently announced the next general CRP signup will begin February 27 and run through April 7, 2023. General CRP signups use the environmental benefits index (EBI) to rank eligible offers. Successful bidders will establish long-term covers such as grasses or trees to control erosion, improve soil health and enhance wildlife habitat.
Continuous CRP: Producers can also enroll in continuous CRP throughout the year. Offers are automatically accepted provided the producer and land meet the eligibility requirements and enrollment levels do not exceed statutory caps.
If you have questions about these programs or wish to sign up, please contact Hanna or Becky.

NRCS Conservation Programs & Inflation Reduction Act (IRA)
The IRA provides USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) with additional funds over five years for its existing conservation programs, including the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP), and the Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP).
The IRA directs NRCS to use these additional funds specifically for climate change mitigation, activities that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve carbon storage, like:
Cover Crops • Reduced-Till and No-Till • Nutrient Management • Prescribed Grazing • Tree/Shrub Establishment • Pasture and Hay land planting • Grassed Waterways
Through this funding, NRCS is seeking to both benefit the climate, by reducing greenhouse gas emissions; and the producer, by improving access to programs and providing financial support and technical assistance to improve their farm, ranch, urban operation, or forest land.
How to Apply EQIP and CSP - NRCS accepts producer applications for its conservation programs year-round, but if you’re interested in EQIP or CSP, you should apply by your state’s ranking dates to be considered for funding in the current cycle. Funding is provided through a competitive process: https://www.nrcs.usda.gov/ranking-dates
Improving Access Every producer has a part to play when it comes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, regardless of the size or type of operation. Whether you are a new or an existing NRCS client, we encourage you to apply. We want to make sure you have access to our programs and get all the assistance for which you are eligible.
NRCS EQIP – Migratory Bird Resurgence Initiative
Do you have:
- Seasonal cropped wetlands less than 2 Ac.
- Wetlands that are not currently under easement
- Harvest crops after August 2nd
Through this funding, NRCS is seeking to benefit migratory bird nesting habitat in the Prairie Pothole Region.
How to Apply If you’re interested in EQIP-MBRI applications are accepted at your local NRCS office now through July 14, 2023, or until fund are expended.
Improving Access Whether you are a new or an existing NRCS client, we encourage you to apply. We want to make sure you have access to our programs and get all the assistance for which you are eligible.
