Recently, Dr. Kevin King of USDA’s Agricultural Research Service presented on the science that supports water quality outcomes that can be achieved through SMART nutrient and water management strategies. This includes the 4Rs of nutrient stewardship (right Source, right Method, right Rate, and right Timing) and emphasizes smart activities to reduce nutrient loss by assessment of comprehensive, site-specific conditions.
